The night before Saturday a building used by Milrem Robotics on Betooni Street in Tallinn caught fire. The Rescue Board managed to keep the fire in check. No one’s life or health was in danger during the fire and no one was injured as a result of it. The exact extent of damage is to be specified. Based on initial information, this may have been a case of arson.
“Criminal proceedings are underway to investigate the case, and based on evidence collected by the Estonian Internal Security Service and North Prefecture, suspects have been identified. The Prosecutor’s Office filed applications with the court to commit the suspects in custody. At the moment, the investigation is in its initial stages and potential motives are to be verified, including the possibility that this may have been a sabotage attempt,” said Astrid Asi, Prosecutor General.
Margo Palloson, Director General of the Estonian Internal Security Service, noted: “We take attacks targeting critical infrastructure seriously and recommend paying special attention to improving the security measures of both physical and digital infrastructure. The threat level has not increased in Estonia in recent years. Russia is a long-term existential threat to Estonia, and this means that we must anticipate Russia’s potential provocations and non-military threats.”
