The Viru Circuit Prosecutor’s Office

The work area of the Viru District Prosecutor’s Office coincides with the work area of the Viru County Court - Ida-Viru County and Lääne-Viru County. The Departments of the Viru District Prosecutor’s Office are located in the largest cities of the area - Narva, Kohtla-Järve and Rakvere.

The Chief Prosecutor, a Senior Prosecutor, three District Prosecutors and five Assistant Prosecutors are employed in the biggest Department in Kohtla-Järve. A Senior Prosecutor, three District Prosecutors and four  Assistant Prosecutors are employed in the smallest Department in Rakvere. In the Narva Department there is a Senior Prosecutor, three District Prosecutors and six  Assistant Prosecutors. All Departments of the District Prosecutor’s Office receive assistance from the Regional Administrative Division.

In the Viru District Prosecutor’s Office there are also two Special Prosecutors, whose duty is to attend to priority offences on the basis of projects. All other prosecutors in the area are specialised in certain types of offences. In general, the work of the Viru District Prosecutor’s Office is divided on the territorial principle.
