The District Circuit Prosecutor’s Office

The Western District Prosecutor’s Office is located in Pärnu and its work area covers Hiiu, Järva, Lääne, Pärnu, Rapla and Saare Counties

There are two departments in the Western District Prosecutor’s Office: Pärnu Department (comprises also the prosecutors of Saaremaa); and Rapla Department (comprises also the prosecutors of Haapsalu and Järva). The prosecutors of Haapsalu also service Hiiu County.
The Western District Prosecutor’s Office covers the largest territory and yet it is the smallest District Prosecutor’s Office in terms of the number of prosecutors there are only 24 prosecutors employed in the area: the Chief  Prosecutor, two Senior Prosecutors, 8 District Prosecutors and 12 Assistant Prosecutors. Every prosecutor in the area is specialised in certain types of offences. In the Western District Prosecutor’s Office there is also one Special Prosecutor, whose duty is to attend to priority offences on the basis of projects.
